We’ve shot so many weddings, that it can be be very easy to overlook a crucial part of the wedding : the asian wedding dress. We’ve been blessed to be part of so many people’e special day and get to partake in their celebration . One thing that always gets us excited and saying that important “wow” is the dress that the bride and groom were. Usually, the bride looks far more stunning (sorry gents, although you do look good too) and the array of colours, patterns and style that we have come across leaves us in appreciation, not only as photographers, but admirers of striking beauty. Below are some of the most eye catching asian wedding dress that some of the brides we have shot have worn.
In most asian weddings, which include not only india and pakistan but the far east, the red worn by the bride usually symbolises luck and auspiciousness. Over the years fabric and colour combinations have expanded. Today fabrics like crepe, Georgette, charmeuse, and satin are used, and colors have been expanded to include gold, pink, orange, maroon, brown, and yellow as well. Many times here in the UK and other western countries, the brides often wear the sari at the wedding ceremony and change into traditional Indian wear afterwards (lehnga, choli, etc.) The asian wedding dress is, as we’re sure you’ll agree, a wonderful, colourful and striking aspect to any wedding.
