About usLife Story

Surindera Studios was originally set up in 1972 by Surinder Balrai, the inspiration for the business name and the father of our current head photographer Shaminder. Surinder began building a name for himself working as a specialist Indian and Asian wedding film maker and photographer. He later worked with his son to pass on his expertise, and eventually the studio too. With almost 45 years in business since then, Surindera Studios has built up an excellent reputation and earned numerous awards in recent years, including the following:

x2 WPPI 2014 Second Half Competition Awards, in the categories of Bride/Groom Alone and Bride & Groom Together

x12 SWPP 2016, 20×16 Awards, in the categories of Wedding Classical, Wedding Avant Garde, Wedding Photo Journalism and Portrait Classical

x2 SWPP 2017, 20×16 Awards, in the categories of Wedding Classical and Wedding Photo Journalism

IOV Film of the Month Winner March 2014

x2 WPPI 2016 Annual Competition Film Awards, in the category of Wedding Film

IOV Film of the Month Winner May 2016

x1 WPPI 2017 Annual Competition Film Awards, in the category of Wedding Film

As you can see from the selection of categories above, Shaminder’s talent and experience have enabled him to specialise in Asian wedding photography and videography simultaneously, reaching an award-winning standard for both. This gives Surindera Studios the rare distinction of being among the premier Indian and Asian wedding film makers in London, as well as one of the best photography studios.

The concept of Surindera Studios is really based around the idea that the client’s needs must come first, which Shaminder inherited from his father. Everything about how our consultation and planning process works is based around finding out what the couple want from their wedding photographs or film, and making sure it’s brought to life when the big day comes.

This involves a great deal of planning and expertise, but fortunately we have plenty of resources at our disposal. Shaminder is supported by a great team of creative and hard-working people who all contribute towards making Surindera Studios what it is today. Thanks to our passionate team we’re able to keep up the same high standards and push ourselves to do even better, so you’re guaranteed a great experience working with us.

  • Congratulations on setting the date for your Big Day!

I’m Shaminder Balrai an award winning artistic Indian Wedding Photographer and Videographer. My style of imagery is Photojournalistic with Dramatic Fine Art Portraiture. I love documenting weddings naturally as they unfold throughout the day, capturing unique and precious moments, emotions and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

In addition to capturing priceless moments, I strongly feel that connecting with the bride and groom, together with their family and friends, on their special day is a must! I’m a people’s person and I undeniably enjoy being part of the couple’s biggest day.

A little about how I started:
Our name ‘Surindera Studios’ comes from my father ‘Surinder’ who was a Photographer from the early 70’s, I started working with him from a young age, and then moved onto graduating in Film and Television Production, from there I spent several years in the film and television industry. In 2009 I decided to revert back to the world of Asian weddings, since then I’ve never looked back as I passionately love what I do.

My team is a selective number of creative individuals, I truly admire their talent and I trust them to achieve great results each time they work alongside me.

May it be a Hindu, Sikh, Muslim or Christian Wedding, we have got over 40 years of experience in the industry.

Our couples rest assured that their big day is captured in a truly unique and creative style.
